Oligonucleotides

Today, oligonucleotides are used in initial research and screening through to target validation and drug production. Oligonucleotides are also commonly used as diagnostic probes.

In oligonucleotide based therapies, synthetic oligonucleotides are administered in order to limit the expression of undesirable disease-associated genes. A number of clinical trials involving oligonucleotides are in progress to develop therapies for cancer, viral and inflammatory diseases. Scalable and cost-effective production methods are needed, both for synthesis and purification.
