Best in Class in Protein Purification

The winners of the Life Science Industry Awards 2004 were announced on December 6, and GE Healthcare was named best-in-class in protein purification and analysis products.

The awards ceremony was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C., and Yamuna Dasarathy, Marketing Manager very proudly accepted the award on behalf of the company. “We know that our ÄKTA™ systems are the best in the market for protein purification. However, when that recognition comes from our customers and they vote for us to be the best, it’s the highest compliment you can get”, says Yamuna.

The Life Science Industry Awards have been developed by The Scientist magazine along with BioInformatics, LCC, a leading market research company, and initiated as an opportunity to give recognition to top life science suppliers for their performance.

The winners of the awards were determined through an electronic survey to members of The Science Advisory Board, as well as readers of The Scientist magazine. More than 3,000 scientists completed the survey voting for their favourite suppliers in twelve different product categories, as well as suppliers with the best overall service and marketing in six different categories.

GE Healthcare was named finalist in the following six categories:
  • Expression analysis products
  • Instrumentation for protein analysis
  • Protein purification and analysis products
  • Technical Support
  • Sales representatives
  • Print advertisement
Fellow nominees in these categories were Applied Biosystems, Bio- Rad, Invitrogen, Pierce and Sigma-Aldrich.

“Winning the protein purification category is a great achievement for our products and services” comments Allan Simpson, VP Customer Segment Research and Analysis in Protein Separations Marketing. “We will strive to improve our customer service with the objective of being seen by our customers as good enough to win as many categories as possible.”

“It is great news for our business to receive this recognition”, says Peter Ehrenheim, President of Protein Separations. “We will continue to refine our products and services to earn this award over and over again!”
