Ion exchange chromatography

One of the most precise methods for the fractionation of biological substances, ion exchange chromatography (IEX) separates biomolecules based on differences in their anionic or cationic charge characteristics. Ion exchange chromatography is generally used as a batch step in initial purification or a selective step in the latter stages of a purification scheme. Using ion exchange chromatography columns and media from GE Healthcare, effective separation of biomolecules possessing relatively small differences in surface charge characteristics can be performed. In addition, high resolution can be achieved during gradient elution by optimizing the ionic strength or pH of the buffer. The selection of media in the range includes well-known names such as Sepharose™, SOURCE™, MonoBeads™, and Capto™. Media are available in convenient, ready-to-use prepacked columns, or as bulk media for packing your own columns.

The aim of GE Healthcare is to provide you with exceptionally high quality ion exchange chromatography media and appropriate columns, as well as all the benefits of our in-house expertise in helping you select the products required for your particular application. Information on ion exchange chromatography media can be found in the animation, selection guide, handbook, FAQ's, and education centre on these pages. If you cannot find the products you require on these pages, please contact us for a personal consultation with the experts in chromatography columns and media.
