Downstream processing using membrane separation
New course focusing on membrane separation techniques for the purification of biomolecules.
- Introduction into membrane separation techniques, properties and applications
- Comparison of alternative filtration technologies
- Presentation and discussion of cross flow filtration techniques, in particular the use hollow fiber and cassette devices
- Discussion of process conditions critical for cell concentration/washing, cell clarification & protein concentration/diafiltration applications
- Focusing on process optimization, cleaning validation and scale–up of membrane separation procedures
- Practical hands–on work with filtration system testing and maintenance exercises, e.g. air diffusion and system leakage tests or membrane cleaning. Furthermore you will do clarification, concentration and diafiltration experiments using a yeast homogenate sample
Duration: 3 days
