Biotrak FAQ's
Can Biotrak kits be used for diagnostic purposes?
Although our kits have been extensively validated, they have not been submitted for regulatory approval. They are for research use only, and are not recommended or intended for diagnosis of disease in humans or animals. Do not use internally or externally in humans or animals
Can you recommend any storage conditions for MMP plasma samples, and how stable will they be under these conditions?
MMP's are very active enzymes possessing natural autocatalytic properties and as such are prone to degradation. We recommend that plasma samples should be stored preferably at -80oC in single use aliquots, during which they should be stable for 6 months to 1 year. At -20oC this stability time is reduced to ~1 month. MMP's are labile and probably would not survive several freeze-thaw cycles and we have also seen deterioration in samples stored for longer than a year at -80oC.
Why do the reagents for the cAMP Biotrak ELISA kit (RPN 225) have to be equilibrated at room temperature before use, but the assay itself run at 2-8oC
Room temperature equilibration is important in particular for the antibody-coated plates as condensation can affect their performance. The antibodies also have a tendency to recognise the labelled cAMP more than the standard or the sample, and the low assay incubation temperature slows down this recognition. |
